Installing Gear Head RC Lights on the Axial Yeti XL

I really enjoy my Axial Yeti XL and wherever I take it, it constantly gathers a crowd. People seem to love its enormous size as well as its alarming amount of power! While I don’t run it on 6S much anymore (it was scaring the local children as well as many small animals), I figured it was time to start investing in some hop-ups to bolster its wow factor even more.

Get Creative, Get Painting- Monster Truck Turned Buggy

I think most of us remember the old chopper building show with the father/son team. Their two different approaches to the creative process really helps make my point here. Senior wanted to draw everything up in advance on a computer to show the customer what they would be getting.

Gimme Space

A workspace can be something as simple as a bench in your garage or basement, or something as extravagant as an all new exterior building for your hobby. We’ve tried to work in the garage (living in Florida that’s rarely an option without having heat stroke), and our home doesn’t have a basement either.

22 Best Battery Chargers for Racing RC Cars

When I first started racing I used an Aristocraft 15-minute quick charger to get my 1200mAh NiCd SC Sanyo batteries to capacity. I turned the dial around fully once then another five minutes for good measure. Soon I was using an external volt meter to monitor batteries and I eventually stepped up to a Digi Novak Peak charger to make my life much easier.

When to use a Castle Creations BEC

What is a BEC? That’s a question I’ve heard quite a few times over the years. Before the BEC (we’ll get to what it is in a second), drivers used to install small, four-cell battery packs on their cars to power the electronics. Why? Well, back in the day, we’d need to use as much of the power in the NiCd and NiMh battery packs as possible to run the cars in a simple four-minute race.

Hyper10 SC Gets a Splash

Recently I was hanging out with my friends, racing 1/10-scale 2WD buggies at the local indoor clay track. As you may know, buggies are an open wheel class where you avoid contact with the other cars. In between races we were watching the 4WD short course trucks run. These trucks were really too much for the tight indoor track, but these guys were really thrashing away, slamming into the walls, the pipes, and each other.
