Ask Tony

You got questions, I have answers. Feel free to ask any RC related questions; questions on tuning, on article cars, on racing or just to ask how I’m doing! I’ll do my best to answer all of them.

QUESTION:

Hey Tony. I’ve been into RC for a little while and after receiving my Driftstar from Exceed RC the ESC completely stopped. A red light on the face keeps blinking. Do you have any idea what’s happening? Also, any suggestions on a good brushless system?
Bobby, York, PA

ANSWER:

Hi Bobby, I did a little research and found that your problem is actually quite com- mon. Here are a few suggestions to see if you can get it to reset itself. Turn the radio on, hold full throttle and turn the car on. If that doesn’t work, turn the radio on, press and hold the ‘Reset’ button on the face of the ESC and turn the car on. If that doesn’t work, turn the radio on, hold full throttle, press and hold the ‘Reset’ button on the face of the ESC and turn the car on. If that doesn’t work, you have two more options: send the ESC in for repair or upgrade to a brushless system. Oh, you want a brush- less system? Excellent! I’ve used the fol- lowing, inexpensive systems with great results: LRP’s Ultimo Drift Combo, Speed Passion’s Champion Drift Reventon R Combo and Novak’s Drift Spec System. All three will give you lots of maintenance- free drifting time in your Driftstar!
