I finally decided to purchace a big bore shock set for my e-maxx. I only did it because my lhs is going out of buisness and I picked them up for $45 bucks. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out the difference between the big bores and oem. The only thing I can figure out is the obvious... Aluminum (I think) Shock bodies, titanium coated shafts and that is it. Is there really a difference, or is everyone who says so nutzzz? Does anyone have them and do they accually help?

They seem the same to me as well size wise. I do have a set & have used them quite a bit. The biggest thing that I feel is an advantage is the alloy construction. This keeps the caps from blowing off in big jumps. They are very smooth & definitely worth 45$.

The big bores are also less prone to leaks because they won't deform as badly and the aluminum helps keep the oil cooler. Although, I don't quite understand why it's important to keep the oil cool since they are generally silicone oils that do not alter their viscosity with temperature change like the oils back in the 80's. I have always upgraded to the big bores on all of my E-Maxx's. They are just plain better in my opinion.

the springs are softer than stockers... well they were when they first came out
