Well here's another little update.......

I wasn't all that happy about the bronze and the black, so I decided to paint the roof rack and bed flat black, along with the mirrors, door handles, grill, bumpers and tailgate handle.

Now this looks better......

Thanks, I would love to have the skills to be able to dupilcate parts, if you really want one, check with Austin Crawls aka ozz73 at scale4x4, he can make it.

Excellent work, Ripper, that's coming along superbly.

I noticed the 4xAA box, is that going to power some lights or something?

ahhh finally something in the bed and roof rack. ever thought of a spare tire mount?

Yea I've thought about it, just not sure where a Hihg-lift tire is actually really good size in the bed and truthfully I doubt I would ever carry a full size spare on my 1:1, there is room under the bed for a 33"

Excellent work, Ripper, that's coming along superbly.

I noticed the 4xAA box, is that going to power some lights or something?

Yes the AAA box powers the led light bar, I'm not planning on wiring up any more LED's, but I may do some headlights, the bed ate up the room for the rear LED mounts, but truthfully I never run at night and the lights are just simply plug and play, so there isn't any real challenge....LOL

Well I made me some Rock Slider/ Nerf Bars. I wanted the protection of Rock sliders but the look of my nerf bars.

http://www.ripper7racing.com/myimages/highlift/f250/jacc5.jpg

I added the red stripes, 4x4, and windsheild decal. I than went outside to take some posers, still have a few small details and than I'll wire her up, I'm hoping sunday I'll get out to give her a real test.

Thanks, yea the clear needs to be polished, but in the right light it looks great, but on a cloudy day, DULL. I can't blame the paint, I would like to, but it was to cold and it didn't flow. So I got a bad case of orange peel. I wet sanded the color coat, not completely smooth, but smooth enough but the Tamiya Clear goes on real thin, I'm having issue with Tamiya paint being over reduced, so I'm not sure I will wet sand, I may just try polish now that it has cured a bit. The fact of the matter is come tomorrow this thing will be knee deep in mud and water so any polish and shine is going to go the way of the dodo....LOL

The scratches and dull paint make it look more like my '99.

Well I was moving slow this morning so I took my coffee outside and fired up the dremel and gave her a polish. I did scar the clear in a spot, but it's ok. I used a pad that was to abrasive and it picked up the glue from a decal and befroe I knew it I had scared the fender, Nothing major, nothing like what rocks and trails will do....LOL

I wish it was Sunny, but rainey it is.

Well just when I thought I was done I went to move a decal and the clear pealed up with it, yea.....

So I think ahhh to hell with it, I'll just clean the glue and put the decal back, after all she's just going to get all torn up on the trails. So I use some Goo Gone and denatured Alcohol, the goo gone is fine but the denatured fogs the clear.....Yea again.

So I strip all the decals wet sand spray a fresh coat of black wet sand. On my 4th or 5th clear coat the nozzle goes crazy and sprays a lazer of clear, it dumps like the whole can on the truck......craptastic

Let it dry for several days, wet sand again, strart the clear all over, this time I get a clogged nozzle, so I switch it and wouldn't you know it it busts off and paint shoots straight up, nice my booth needed a good clear, but the truck and me are now spattered with clear.

So it's time for a brake fluid bath, but first I decide to try some Rustoleum Clear Laquer, not even sure what I bought it for. Anyways it sprayed very clean, no stupid fan tip and it flowed well, still some orange peel but nothing crazy. So I decide I want to drive my truck gave it a wet sand and a wax and left it as it was with 300 coats of paint it should be well protected....

Oh and I added some Chrome Foil to the tool box and I widened the rims, yea I said widened, big whoop, you wanna fight about it?!

On to the backyard testing pics.
