You got questions, I have answers. Feel free to ask any RC related questions; questions on tuning, on article cars, on racing or just to ask how I’m doing! I’ll do my best to answer all of them.

QUESTION:

Hi Tony. I’m looking to buy a 4WD RC truck. A co-worker of mine has an HPI Savage 4.6 XL that is all tuned up and we are planning to gather some friends and build a track to have fun. Which is faster as a stock model; gas or nitro?
Airton J. Millsboro, DE

ANSWER:

Hi Airton, Assuming you’ll be looking at RTR versions of stock gas and nitro mod- els, you’ll be surprised that they are both very close in top speed. We’ve tested the new gas versions of the Losi 8IGHT and 8IGHT-T and found that they are more than capable of keeping up with RTR nitro vehicles. The only issue you might have is when it’s time to upgrade. There are a lot of upgrades currently available for nitro models to increase their speed; upgraded engines, pipes, carb setups and even different fuels. Gas models, however, are still a quite new and don’t quite have as many upgrades to improve the speed. If you’re willing to wait a little bit, I would suggest getting a gas vehicle since the overall cost to run them is much cheaper than a nitro car. Good luck!
