Update – Losi Mini 8 and the RPM Front Bumper

It goes without saying that I really, really like the Losi Mini 8.  I’ve made a great many changes to it and have gotten Dale from Kolors by Kropy to paint me a sweet custom lid in recent weeks.  So what was left to do?  Well, RPM recently sent us their cool new front bumper for the Mini 8 so I just had to install it.

Step on is removing the stock bumper.

This is fairly simple to do, in fact, the only tool needed to perform this bumper swap is a 1.5mm hex wrench.  I used my 1.5mm Dynamite hex driver to perform this swap as there are just 2 screws that hold the stock bumper in place.

With the stock bumper removed I first slid the RPM spacer between the chassis and front diff case.  This takes up the space where the stock bumper was installed.

Be sure to push it completely into place so the holes line up.

Next, simply position the new RPM bumper in place and attach it using the new 1.5mm screws supplied by RPM.  It is that simple!  The entire swap will take less than 5-minutes.  What I really like it that the new RPM front bumper looks cool, is more durable than the stock unit, offers more protection as it is wider and since it mounts to the bottom of the chassis, it also acts as a skid plate.
