If you have not had a chance to dig into the Losi NASCAR offerings, then you are missing out on a super fun on-road car to race that performs exceptionally well and clearly looks the part. The current Losi NASCAR fleet consists of nine different models that accurately replicate the Next Gen silhouettes you would see tearing around that track at the Daytona 500. Beneath the highly detailed bodies lies a purpose-built Losi all-wheel drive chassis equipped with the type of gear you would expect coming from Losi. This provides quite a rugged alternative to the fragile rear-wheel drive pan cars commonly used for this class. From the championship-winning schemes of Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano to the return of iconic Earnhardt #3 and #8 liveries, the current nine car lineup offers a versatile entry point for collectors and competitive club racer alike.
MEET THE FLEET
The current Losi lineup is strategically split between today’s Cup Series frontrunners and two of the most significant “Legacy” schemes in racing history. While they all share the same high-performance DNA, each body is officially licensed to replicate the unique nose and tail profiles of the Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang, and Toyota Camry.
The Modern Era Roster:
#1 Ross Chastain (Busch Light / Chevrolet): The “Melon Man” makes his mark with the clean, iconic blue Busch Light livery.
#5 Kyle Larson (Valvoline / Chevrolet): A fan favorite, Larson’s Valvoline scheme is a masterclass in scale detail.
#9 Chase Elliott (NAPA / Chevrolet): The perennial Most Popular Driver brings the blue and white NAPA colors to the 1/12 grid.
#12 Ryan Blaney (Advance Auto Parts / Ford): Representing the Blue Oval, the 2023 Cup Champion’s Mustang is a must-have for Ford fans.
#20 Christopher Bell (DeWalt / Toyota): Carrying the flag for Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota, this bright yellow DeWalt Camry stands out in any pack.
#22 Joey Logano (Shell Pennzoil / Ford): The yellow and red Mustang is a staple of the Losi fleet and arguably one of the most visible on the track.
#24 William Byron (Raptor / Chevrolet): The Raptor scheme brings a modern, aggressive look to the Hendrick Motorsports Chevy.
The Legends (Fantasy Editions):
#3 Richard Childress Racing (GM Goodwrench / Chevrolet): Reimagining “The Intimidator” for the 21st century, this edition drapes the legendary black-and-silver GM Goodwrench scheme over the Next Gen chassis to create one of the most menacing looks in the entire fleet.
#8 Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Budweiser / Chevrolet): This “Fantasy Edition” brings a legendary piece of NASCAR history to the modern era, pairing Junior’s iconic red Budweiser livery with the aggressive body lines of the Next Gen Camaro.
UNDER THE HOOD
While the exterior focuses on scale realism, the interior is built for the rigors of “parking lot ovals.” The car utilizes a centralized shaft-driven AWD system, a layout that provides neutral handling and massive exit-corner grip. By distributing power to all four wheels through sealed, metal-geared differentials, Losi ensures the drivetrain remains protected from the grit and debris common on unprepared asphalt—a notorious “gear-killer” for open-drivetrain models.
Powering this fleet is a Spektrum 380-size brushed motor paired with a factory-installed cooling fan, a critical addition for maintaining performance during long summer race heats. This setup is managed by a Spektrum SLT 2-in-1 waterproof ESC and receiver, providing a clean, space-saving electronics layout that keeps the center of gravity low. To handle the steering duties with precision, Losi equipped the chassis with a Spektrum SX110 metal-geared servo, offering the durability needed to survive the high-side wall impacts that are a staple of stock car racing.
The suspension geometry further distances this platform from entry-level toys. It features four-wheel independent suspension supported by oil-filled, coil-over shocks. This allows the car to track straight over pavement seams and imperfections that would unsettle a more rigid chassis. For the competitive racer, the chassis offers meaningful tuning options: the shocks can be rebuilt with different oil weights, and the camber and differentials can be adjusted to “dial in” the car for specific track conditions. This combination of a robust, enclosed drivetrain and a tunable suspension makes the Losi 1/12 platform a legitimate racing machine that is as rewarding to wrench on as it is to drive.
