Features
Pro-Line’s Trencher tires have been a staple in the hobby for years, known for their aggressive tread design that bites into dirt, gravel, and grass with ease. For the X-Maxx, Pro-Line pairs the Trencher tread with their innovative Pro-Loc wheel system. This setup uses a beadlock ring secured by a series of long screws that not only clamp the tire bead but also key into the wheel itself for maximum security under extreme loads. Inside, a soft insert helps the tire conform to terrain for added grip, and the tire is not belted—making it ideal for backflips and stunt driving.
The new Limited Edition versions change up the look with two striking wheel color combos. You’ll find a gray composite center paired with a black beadlock ring, or a bronze center with the same bold black ring. Each option gives the X-Maxx an aggressive, custom appearance that makes it stand out at the bash spot. Pro-Line is keeping these truly special by capping production at just 500 units per style. To top it off, both the Trencher and Badlands MX43 tires will be offered on these new limited wheels, giving drivers performance and style options to fit their driving style.
Performance
On the dirt, the new Trenchers instantly proved their worth. The super-soft compound delivers excellent traction, allowing the massive X-Maxx to dig in and tear across loose terrain with confidence. Throttle response feels strong, and the tires have no trouble putting down power when bashing, jumping, or even pulling off wild stunts. However, during initial testing, the tires showed some unusual ballooning at higher speeds. Without vent holes, they tended to “pizza cutter” oddly, which limited performance.
After adding vent holes manually using a leather punch, the difference was night and day. The tires finally spun up evenly, delivering consistent performance across the board. With proper venting, the Trenchers hooked up beautifully and kept the truck planted, even under full throttle. It’s a small but important step that X-Maxx drivers will want to take before pushing these tires to their limits.
Wrap-Up
Pro-Line’s Limited Edition Trencher tires for the X-Maxx are a perfect mix of aggressive performance and bold styling. With their trusted tread design, Pro-Loc wheel system, and exclusive new colorways, they deliver both function and flair for hardcore bashers. While the lack of pre-venting out of the box was a bit of a letdown, once corrected, the tires truly shined and lived up to the Trencher name. With limited availability and only 500 sets produced, X-Maxx owners looking to upgrade should move fast before these special editions are gone.
